Student-Focused Opportunities
The Tarleton Corps strives to provide the best and most rewarding opportunities for students. We pride ourselves on the experiences our Cadets gain during their time with us and the lifelong connections those experiences create as alumni.
Academics
The Corps promotes and enhances the scholastic performance of all members by providing one of the most successful academic support programs on campus.
Cadets have access to: A dedicated Corps academic advisor who understands the demands of Cadet life, Structured weekly study halls, Academic-based mentor matching programs, academic progress monitoring and early intervention support.
Our structured system ensures Cadets stay on track toward graduation while balancing leadership development, ROTC commitments, and campus involvement.
Character and Leadership
The Texan Corps of Cadets is designed to promote student success by developing critical thinkers, communicators, problem solvers, and team builders.
The Corps affords undergraduate students the opportunity to complete an 18-hour minor in Leadership Studies, available exclusively to Corps members. The minor is awarded through academic coursework and satisfactory completion of leadership progression within the Corps.
The Corps is intentionally structured to cultivate personal growth, teamwork, and the embodiment of Tarleton’s core values: Integrity, Excellence, and Respect. Cadets are encouraged to participate in service-related projects that positively impact both the University and the surrounding community.
Scholarship and Financial Aid
Scholarships are available for members of the Texan Corps of Cadets. Texan Corps scholarships carry no military obligation and are awarded based on merit, need, and performance.
The Corps controls more than $220,000 in dedicated scholarship funding to support cadets. Awards may be considered based on GPA, leadership performance within the Corps, special team involvement, physical fitness, degree program, and overall cadet standing.
Physical Health
The purpose of Corps physical training is to improve and maintain the overall level of physical and mental fitness, strength, and endurance of every cadet.
Cadets benefit from: Organized physical training sessions, Structured fitness plans aligned with ROTC standards, Cadet medical assistance and advocacy, A strong partnership with the campus clinic for coordinated healthcare.
Along with physical fitness training, emphasis is placed on healthy nutrition, weight management, and injury prevention to promote long-term wellness and resilience.
Career Readiness
The Texan Corps of Cadets offers access to internships and experiential learning programs that prepare Cadets with marketable leadership skills and character traits valued by businesses, government agencies, and the military.
Cadets pursuing an active-duty commission in the U.S. Military — including Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps — may apply to traditional ROTC programs as members of the Corps.
Graduates emerge with a competitive advantage in the workforce, equipped with leadership experience, discipline, and a commitment to service.
Friendship and Challenge
The Corps is more than a program — it is a community.
Cadets live together in dedicated on-campus housing, creating a structured and supportive environment built on shared experiences. Daily interaction, shared dorm life, training, and leadership development foster deep bonds and lifelong friendships.
The Cadet lifestyle demands physical and mental discipline, but it also builds camaraderie, pride, and a powerful sense of belonging. Through challenge comes growth — and through shared challenge comes lifelong connection.
